London—December 16, 2020 – Earlier this month, The Learning Guild received an industry award of excellence – Best International Show – Americas for the work on DevLearn 2019 Conference & Expo. The Association of Event Organizers (AEO), the trade body representing trade and consumer events, honored the Guild and parent company, CloserStill Media, with the industry award.
“As an annual event that The Learning Guild has produced since 2005, we are thrilled that AEO has recognized DevLearn with this award,” said David Holcombe, Co-Founder and CEO of the Guild. “The growth this show achieved in 2019, subsequent to its acquisition by CloserStill Media in 2018, reflects the effectiveness and success of the new partnership.”
Awards were announced at the first ever virtual AEO Excellence Awards Ceremony, typically held in-person each year.
Taking first out of eight finalists in the category, judges remarked that DevLearn 2019 was a fantastic and highly successful event led by a passionate team that demonstrated an understanding of their audience needs and focused on innovative ways to engage that audience using technology and incentives.
“This is a tremendous accomplishment that fills me with pride and appreciation,” said David Kelly, Executive Director of the Guild. “DevLearn has grown into the leading learning technologies event in the Americas via the hard work of our exceptionally talented team and through the feedback we receive each and every year from our valued community. This award is a testament to all of their contributions and to the guiding principle that shapes every decision we make: Together we are better.”
AEO recognized CloserStill Media with two other awards, Best Organizer Team and Best International Show – Asia Pacific, bringing the running total to eight AEO Excellence Awards earned since being founded—more than any other company in the event industry. This is The Learning Guild’s first AEO award since the partnership with CloserStill.
