There are endless tools for creating eLearning, but precious few that are easy to use, capable of creating truly interactive learning experiences, and xAPI-enabled from the ground up to track and understand your learners’ journeys. Enter PeBL, an open-source codebase for creating personalized eBooks for learning. eBooks may not come first to your mind as interactive learning experiences, but things have come a long way since the first Kindle. Now you have the ability to embed multimedia, deliver multiple versions of content, evaluate understanding, enable group collaboration, and much more. Whether you’re creating job aids, digital workbooks for instructor-led classes, self-study materials, or collaborative experiences, you have the ability to create content that teaches, tests, and adapts to people’s individual needs.

In this session, you’ll learn how to design and create a PeBL learning experience using extensible, open-source software. You’ll explore examples of existing creations, discuss the problems you want to solve, and receive the open-source codebase to create interactive, personalized eBooks for learning.

In this session, you will learn:

  • How to create and publish a PeBL learning experience
  • How to make effective design decisions to create the most effective learning solution
  • How to enhance your PeBL with open-source extensions that make your content collaborative and adaptive
  • How to connect your PeBL to an LRS to gather and analyze data about your learners’ achievements and the effectiveness of your learning solutions
